"True Colors"

Author's Note:  When I first heard this song I really liked it. The message it send out is true. I wrote about this because I think everyone should be happy with themselves.

"You with the sad eyes
Don't be discouraged
Oh I realize
Its hard to take courage
In a world full of people
You can lose sight of it all
And the darkness inside you
Can make you feel so small

But I see your true colors
Shining through
I see your true colors
And that's why I love you
So don't be afraid to let them show
Your true colors
True colors are beautiful,
Like a rainbow

Show me a smile then,
Don't be unhappy, can't remember
When I last saw you laughing
If this world makes you crazy
And you've taken all you can bear
You call me up
Because you know I'll be there

And I'll see your true colors
Shining through
I see your true colors
And that's why I love you
So don't be afraid to let them show
Your true colors
True colors are beautiful,
Like a rainbow

(When I last saw you laughing)
If this world makes you crazy
And you've taken all you can bear
You call me up
Because you know I'll be there

And I'll see your true colors
Shining through
I see your true colors
And that's why I love you
So don't be afraid to let them show
Your true colors"

    By Cindy Lauper

When I first heard this song on my favorite show "Glee" song by Cindy Lauper, I was kind of amazed. I felt like they were sending the message that for who you truly are is incredible. Everybody is different and that's okay because different is good. A lot of people (I admit to being a victim of) hold back. They're sometimes afraid to show people who they really are. Not everybody is accepting as other people but my opinion is that you shouldn’t hold back because when you hold back from being happy, mad, sad or just yourself your acting. Your putting on an act to be a flawless and perfect person. Well at least that's what I try to do. So moral of the story, don't hold back. Be yourself.

  1. These are all nicely done, Grace. I find it interesting that you used lyrics from Cyndi Lauper as I didn't think she was popular anymore; she was "in" years ago. :) Well done.
