My Favorite Vacation

Author's Note: Everyone loves vacations and everyone has their favorite, I chose to write about Nashville because it was my favorite vacation I've ever been on.

My favorite vacation is when I went to Nashville, Tennessee. I went to Nashville two months ago in August. I was really excited to go because some of my favorite singers are from Nashville. Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood and of course Elvis Presley himself. When I was there my family and I stayed in an amazing hotel. It was called the Opryland and it was the best hotel ever. There were seven domes in the hotel. To get around you could either walk or take the boat ride in the river which is in the hotel! The Opryland has a bunch of stores to shop at and there are waterfalls and a small jungle in the hotel. The first day we arrived in Nashville we spent the day in the hotel because it’s like its own city in there.

The next day we went out to the city for some lunch and sightseeing. We went to lunch at a place called True’s bbq. We had a traditional meal. Pulled pork on a hoecake, fried pickles, corn nib lets, and sweet tea. It might sound gross but it’s awesome! My mouth is watering just talking about it. For our sightseeing we went to the country music hall of fame. There I saw Elvis’ actual gold piano, Taylor Swift’s actual dress and guitar and Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley’s dress and suit. We saw props that came from some of the first country stars there ever were to country stars today. Gold and silver platinum albums were lined up on the wall for tourists.

We only had a little bit of time in Nashville because we had things to do back home. On our last day we stopped at a place called pink berry for some frozen yogurt (at my request). Frozen yogurt is one of my favorite desserts there is! I got vanilla yogurt with captain crunch cereal topping. After we filled our stomachs with yogurt we drove up the road to Taylor Swift’s recording studio. We knocked on the door but they wouldn’t let us in. Although they did give us Taylor Swift guitar picks and key chains.

We started to leave Tennessee which was sad because it was really fun. On our way back we decided to stop in St. Louis to see the famous arch. When we got to St. Louis we headed straight to the arch. It was so cool. To get up to the top you took a small white gondola which I repeat is very, very small. Once we got to the top and looked out the windows it was like we could see the whole city and beyond. After wards we walked around the museum in the arch and learned how they made it, how many people it took to build it and how long it took to build.

Being able to experience Nashville and St. Louis was amazing. I won’t ever forget everything that happened there. I definitely want to go back sometime in the future. I’ll always have a story to tell about traveling to Nashville, Tennessee and St. Louis, Missouri and why it was my favorite vacation.

  1. Grace I loved your essay I have always wanted to go up in the Saint Louis Arch. That is almost a once in a lifetime experience, but maybe not for you. Your essay was really relate-able and it sounded like you had a lot of fun. The only thing I have to say is you might want to go back and check some of the spelling. Keep up the good work. Loved it.
