Author's note: I've been skiing for so long. This is favorite outdoor activity because I am used to it and I love doing it.
Favorite outdoor Activity
I have two favorite outdoor activities that I’m going to pick. Downhill skiing . When I lived in New York ,during Christmas break my whole family cousins and all would all go skiing one day. It was so much fun because we would go skiing and then we would have a sleepover. All of my cousins are boys except for one and she is 18. If you could imagine what a sleepover with all boys would be, video games and air-soft wars. Anyways, I have been skiing since I was about 4 ears old. It almost comes naturally to me because I have been doing it for 8 years and because I love it so much. Now that I have moved we don’t go skiing anymore but I still have those memories.

Vacation
Author's note: This my dream vacation. California is a vacation I'm going on in the future.
My dream vacation would be able to go to Bora Bora. The water is electric aqua and crystal clear. Bora Bora is always sunny and warm. Who wouldn’t want to go there? Someday I hope I can go there because that is one of the top places I want to go to most all over the world.
For spring break my family is going to California. A few days we will be in Los Angeles and a few days we will be in San Francisco. In Los Angeles my sister and I are going para sailing and a few other things but I’m not quite sure yet.

Opinions on Hunting
Opinions on Hunting
I don’t like hunting. It seems like it would be really boring because all you do is sit in the woods. Also I would imagine you would be really cold. Guns scare me because they are big and loud and I don’t know how use them and if anything were to happen a gun could easily kill somebody.

Christmas Break
Christmas
Author’s Note: Every kid is excited for Christmas! Playing in the snow, being with family, and opening presents. Down below are all the reasons why I am extremely excited.
Christmas is always a special time of year. Lights fill the streets and snow covers the ground. There are always presents wrapped in red and green awaiting you under the decorated tree. The best part about it is getting to visit with your family. I only see my relatives 4 times a year so when I get that chance I never take it for granted.
Anyways, on to my plans. My family lives in Pennsylvania and New York, so one day we would have to spend driving. On Christmas Eve it usually is a relaxed day (which we would spend at my grandparents house). Sometimes my sister and I will build a gingerbread house or just hang out with my cousins. Same goes for Christmas day. Once we finish opening presents we have a big breakfast to start the next part of our day. Later that evening my Aunt is going to make a big dinner for everyone. The part of Pennsylvania that my grandparents live in is only 2 hours away from NYC.
Being that length we will go there on the 26th. Some plans we have for there is to go to a Broadway show because our friend knows a producer so we got 9 free tickets! We also plan to go ice skating in Rockefeller plaza. The city is always beautiful when there is decorations and a big snowfall. After a day in the big apple we are heading to a different part of New york to visit my dad’s side of the family.
On my dad’s side I have 15 cousins and 2 are younger than me. I always have a lot of fun at my cousins house because the day is fresh off of Christmas and everyone is still excited. My family tends to be a little crazy so it’s always hectic but fun. After 2 days there I am going to go to where I used to live in New York and visit some of my friends.
My friends and I plan to go shopping and to see the new movie New Years Eve. I haven’t seen my really good friend in 7 months and I am so excited to see her because we have been friends since we were 3 years old.
All these reasons are why I am so excited for Christmas because it’s not the presents that matter it is the people that you are with.

My Ghost Stories
Author’s note: I’m sure everybody has at least one good ghost story. I have 3 and I know for a fact that they weren’t just my imagination.
I’ve had a few scary things happen to me. when I was 1 year old my grandma died. My whole family has a cottage in western Pennsylvania. About 10 years ago when my mom, dad,and sister were at my cottage .They were all reading books in the house. My sister was laying on one of the beds upstairs and saw my grandma walk by. At that time my grandma had died 6 months before that. Since then a few weird things have happened to me. Seeing black shadows was kind of a common occurrence until up about 4 years ago. Then it stopped.
Also when I was at my friends house last year something happened. I had slept over for a few nights. One morning her mom came and asked us if we were up walking around in the middle of the night and we told her that we weren’t.She asked us because she heard somebody walking up the stairs. So as an experiment one of us layed in the bed and the other walked up the stairs to see if we could hear and we could. he two of us were home alone and the window wasn't open and my friend does not have any animals except for her cat that had died 3 years prior. As we were walking back to her bedroom her door slammed shut and would not open. We tried to jimmy the lock a few times but nothing worked. Finally after about 4 minutes it opened. We were completely freaked out so we just ran downstairs and tried to erase the memory from our mind

The Smell at Asa Clark
The mysterious scent lingering through the hallways at Asa Clark middle is yet unidentified. Some say it is the smell of rotten syrup, spray paint. white out and onions. It is giving everyone a head ache and it proves to be non-toxic. The odor is very strong and can be easily noticed. This scent hits you like a pile of bricks. It instantly fills your nostrils with the chemical smell.
As you can tell by the wording of the previous paragraph myself and the rest of the school probably wishes this smell wasn't here so we could proceed with our day. It comes from a special seal to put on the wooden floors in the auditorium. This smell was awful and I hope it never comes back again.

The Clique
Authors note: In many middle schools across the U.S.A there is always a group of "the popular girls". These girls are powerful and vein. After reading this, think twice about the saying "sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt".
Massie, Dylan Alicia , Kristen and the newest member Claire are all part of the pretty committee. They are the five girls that rule the school and insist on it staying that way. The girls live in Westchester,NY. A town where money is all that matters. Mansion estates line up for almost every child that attends Octavian Country Day school for girls or Briarwood Academy for boys.
Speaking of wealthy kids and big houses. One particular OCD Westchester native, Massie Block. Massie and her family have it all. The money, the looks, the house and reguarding Massie, popularity. Her best friends have it the same. Except Kristen. Kristen's family struggles with money and attends OCD with scholarship. The grades don't always matter to Massie and her wealthy friends. Clothes, keeping her populat reputaion, and her black pug named Bean are the things that are number one to her.
I like this book because it shows how some people can really be. Also I can relate to this because I am in 7th grade too. The girls in this book care so much about materialistic things that its something to laugh at and not something to idolize. These girls are very fortunate, so they've always had their wishes granted without a hesitant.
Since 2004 the percentage rate of cliques and reports for catty and mean girls have incresed 26%. Of that 26% the majority is middle school and high school girls. Cliques can make such a big impact on a girls life. The smallest words ccan ruin her day or ruin her self-confidence. Before you ever got to hurt somebody think about how it would feel to be placed in their shoes.

Reasons to be Proud of America
Author's Note: There are many reasons to be proud of our country, veterans work their hardest to keep us safe. The least we can do is to be thankful for that.
Being an American is a privilege. While we all take it for granted our privileges can be stolen from us in a blink of an eye. There is a reason the American pledge of allegiance reads the lyrics it does. By pledging those words to our nation’s flag we are stating that we stand as one and will not be broken down come what may.
That irritating moment when our facebook account doesn’t let us log in or our phone runs out of battery. If at that very second we could all think that there are courageous soldiers lying in the sand dunes with bullets going by that could take their life at any given moment. I am very proud of our country. Part of being an American citizen is offering our support for those who died a hero and those who are becoming a hero.
Veterans receive a very special place in my heart knowing that my grandfather and aunt have served as U.S Marine’s and my cousin is serving as I type right now. We are fearless and will jump every hurdle this world puts in front of us. As an American citizen I’m sure I speak for every other citizen that we can’t explain the passion for our country we can just show the encouragement and support we are offering.
The stronger our country gets the more confident we get and the more confident we get makes us want to strive even more. The sky is our limit if we continue to stay brave and valiant. Why wouldn’t you be proud of America? America is undefeatable and has been that way for many years. Some people don’t understand how lucky we even are. So after All America truly is the land of the free and the home of the brave.

My Favorite Vacation
Author's Note: Everyone loves vacations and everyone has their favorite, I chose to write about Nashville because it was my favorite vacation I've ever been on.
My favorite vacation is when I went to Nashville, Tennessee. I went to Nashville two months ago in August. I was really excited to go because some of my favorite singers are from Nashville. Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood and of course Elvis Presley himself. When I was there my family and I stayed in an amazing hotel. It was called the Opryland and it was the best hotel ever. There were seven domes in the hotel. To get around you could either walk or take the boat ride in the river which is in the hotel! The Opryland has a bunch of stores to shop at and there are waterfalls and a small jungle in the hotel. The first day we arrived in Nashville we spent the day in the hotel because it’s like its own city in there.
The next day we went out to the city for some lunch and sightseeing. We went to lunch at a place called True’s bbq. We had a traditional meal. Pulled pork on a hoecake, fried pickles, corn nib lets, and sweet tea. It might sound gross but it’s awesome! My mouth is watering just talking about it. For our sightseeing we went to the country music hall of fame. There I saw Elvis’ actual gold piano, Taylor Swift’s actual dress and guitar and Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley’s dress and suit. We saw props that came from some of the first country stars there ever were to country stars today. Gold and silver platinum albums were lined up on the wall for tourists.
We only had a little bit of time in Nashville because we had things to do back home. On our last day we stopped at a place called pink berry for some frozen yogurt (at my request). Frozen yogurt is one of my favorite desserts there is! I got vanilla yogurt with captain crunch cereal topping. After we filled our stomachs with yogurt we drove up the road to Taylor Swift’s recording studio. We knocked on the door but they wouldn’t let us in. Although they did give us Taylor Swift guitar picks and key chains.
We started to leave Tennessee which was sad because it was really fun. On our way back we decided to stop in St. Louis to see the famous arch. When we got to St. Louis we headed straight to the arch. It was so cool. To get up to the top you took a small white gondola which I repeat is very, very small. Once we got to the top and looked out the windows it was like we could see the whole city and beyond. After wards we walked around the museum in the arch and learned how they made it, how many people it took to build it and how long it took to build.
Being able to experience Nashville and St. Louis was amazing. I won’t ever forget everything that happened there. I definitely want to go back sometime in the future. I’ll always have a story to tell about traveling to Nashville, Tennessee and St. Louis, Missouri and why it was my favorite vacation.
